Tommy O’Dell from DMA’s features on SBS World Cup Daily

1 min read

Since the FIFA World Cup kicked off, I’ve been watching SBS Australia’s daily World Cup program; which I have been enjoying a lot as the tournament has progressed – unfortunately, Australia crashed out against Argentina in the knockout stage, which was their best result in years – and I was pleasantly surprised to see Tommy from Australian three-piece rock band DMA’s appear on today’s program as a guest.

Apparently, Tommy is a big fan of football, has been to football camps, played a lot of football as a child, and he is actually a right footer! Also, DMA’s’ smash-hit single, “Play It Out” – which you can listen to below – featured on the FIFA ’17 video game in 2016, so that is great too, and justifies a mention.

I tried to find an embed of the episode (so you don’t have to click an image), however, unfortunately, SBS On Demand doesn’t have that function – as far as I could see – so I did what I could.

I didn’t expect to write about an Australian Football program and band member together on Eat This Music, but if there was an excuse to plug my favourite current program – and band – it would be now. It is also the beauty of Eat This Music that I can write about these niche things like this when I feel like it!
