There’s always a reason to put something off. Maybe the timing isn’t right, you’re worried about what other people might think, or the possibility of failure feels a little too uncomfortable. But California-based singer-songwriter and producer Elsa Eva believes there’s something to be gained from taking that chance anyway, and it’s an idea she explores on her latest single.
“It feels amazing!” Elsa expresses about the release of her new song. “There’s something really rewarding about taking your creativity and ideas, turning them into a finished song, and finally being able to share them with the world. With “Risk Taker,” I especially wanted to create something inspiring for bold, fearless people and anyone chasing a dream that requires stepping outside their comfort zone.”
“When you finally finish a song and release it, you get a chance to look back and appreciate everything that went into it: developing the beat and instrumental, working on the arrangement, experimenting with different vocal styles, recording, and refining all the little details,” Elsa continues.
Blending indie-pop and electronic influences with an upbeat energy and a slightly mysterious atmosphere, the song is an encouragement to step outside your comfort zone and pursue whatever matters to you, even when there’s no guarantee things will work out. Speaking with Eat This Music, Elsa explained that she wanted to create something for people who refuse to play it safe, particularly those chasing ambitions that require persistence, self-belief and a willingness to embrace uncertainty. Rather than pretending that taking risks is easy, she sees the possibility of failure as part of discovering what you’re actually capable of achieving.
That message comes from Elsa’s own experiences with personal growth, resilience and learning to trust her decisions. She explained that she’s become more focused and intentional about what she wants to achieve, recognising that waiting for perfect circumstances or universal approval can sometimes prevent people from moving forward altogether. “I think every new song teaches me something, both creatively and personally. With “Risk Taker,” one of the biggest things I’ve appreciated is how important resilience and consistency are when you’re pursuing a goal,” Elsa continues. “I’ve become even more aware that whether your goal is small or ambitious, it still takes commitment and effort to achieve it. Sometimes you might as well aim higher, challenge yourself and see what you’re truly capable of. Life is unpredictable, and you never know what obstacles might come your way, so I believe in preparing yourself and giving your goals your best effort.”
It’s about stepping into the unknown, pushing beyond your limits, and having the courage to keep going when life throws obstacles your way. Playing it safe might protect you from failure, but taking risks is how you discover what you’re truly capable of.
Her previous single explored a related frustration with being labelled, misunderstood or defined by somebody else’s expectations, while this new song takes that independence a step further by asking what happens when you stop seeking permission and start making your own choices. Elsa was closely involved in every stage of the song’s creation, developing its beat, instrumental arrangement, melodies and lyrics before recording her vocals at Steve Glaze Studio in California with engineer.
“I’m a singer-songwriter and producer, so I enjoy being involved in the creative process from the very beginning. I develop the instrumental and beat, work on the arrangement and melodies, write my own lyrics, and experiment with different vocal approaches until everything starts coming together,” Elsa says. “With “Risk Taker,” I wanted to balance an upbeat, feel-good energy with a slightly mysterious and atmospheric sound. I spent time exploring how the instrumental, vocals, and overall production could support the message of the song. I recorded my vocals at Steve Glaze Studio in California, working with Steve Glaze as my sound engineer. Every new release is an opportunity to learn something and refine my artistic direction. I feel like I’m constantly growing, whether it’s discovering a new vocal technique or exploring a different production idea.”
Elsa’s “Risk Taker” also arrives during a particularly productive period for Elsa, who released her EP in January 2026, followed by two singles in July, before sharing “Detached” and “Risk Taker” in October. Each release has helped her develop what she describes as the Elsa Eva sound, bringing together her electronic and indie influences with her own approach to melody, vocals and atmosphere.
Elsa is already working on more original material for 2027, with further singles planned, a potential album under consideration and ideas for music videos that could expand the visual worlds of her recent songs. “I’m currently working on more original material, and I’m planning to release additional singles throughout 2027. An album is also a possibility, but right now I’m really enjoying developing my sound and growing as an artist with each new release,” Elsa adds. “I’m also planning to create more visualizers and music videos for my songs. I’d especially love to develop visual concepts for “Risk Taker” and “Detached,” because I think visuals can add another dimension to the atmosphere and stories behind the music.”
