Sometimes a song starts out as one thing and ends up meaning something completely different, a that’s exactly what happened with Full Flower Moon Band’s new single, which is the latest taste of their upcoming album, due out for release in February 2027. Led by Australian songwriter and guitarist Kate, the band have spent years building their reputation on heavy guitars, psychedelic rock swagger and a healthy disregard for playing things safe.
Following the release of Endless Summer in September, the band’s latest release takes their attitude somewhere more emotionally complicated, as what initially began as a celebration of living without restraint gradually became something much more personal, transforming the idea of partying hard into a reminder of why life is worth embracing in the first place.
“The chorus is me trying to inspire someone to ‘ask for forgiveness and not permission’ to live the life they want, and to the fullest,” Kate says about the story of the song. “It ultimately became a more gravitational anthem than I expected.”
The band’s newest song might sound like an invitation to throw caution to the wind, but underneath its rebellious attitude sits a much more thoughtful idea about taking ownership of your existence while you have the opportunity, and rather than abandoning the song’s original spirit, Kate seems to have found a deeper reason for it, turning a celebration of freedom into something that also acknowledges how fragile life can be.
