Baby Velvet’s “Wild Cherry Tree Drive” is a soulful journey of self-reflection

In her latest release, “Wild Cherry Tree Drive”, Baby Velvet takes listeners on a musical journey that feels like a sun-soaked road trip, as this song doubles as a delightful fusion of guitar-driven verses and intimate, contemplative lyrics that reflect on the essence of a penned break-up letter.

Baby Velvet boasts guitar-tinged instrumentals in this new song that immediately grab your attention through the warm, nostalgic atmosphere that transports you to the very scenes Baby Velvet describes in her lyrics.

You’d be remiss to overlook the fact her vocals are a highlight of the track, as they exude a sense of authenticity and raw emotion, telling the story Baby Velvet is sharing. The lyrics, in particular, are a further showcase to her songwriting: “The idea behind this song is that you can think the love you have is the best you have had but you don’t realise it’s only because your bar is quite low!” Baby Velvet says. “‘Never been loved so good, to find out I’ve been loved so bad’ – once you step outside of a relationship and look back sometimes you realise what you thought was good wasn’t good enough. Maybe the relationship was beautiful, the dates, the swimming spot, because you made sure it was magic and maybe the other person doesn’t sparkle as bright as you do.”

To complement the track in all of its beauty, Baby Velvet released a visually stunning music video, where she gives a glimpse into her multifaceted artistry – as both a musician and visual creator – as the music video features a mix of visual collages and live footage, creating a bold, fun, and entirely unique experience.

“I decided to challenge myself to create something myself that involved a mixture of collages and live footage,” Baby Velvet says about the music video. “I spent a week painting a wall in my shed, got my housemates to dress up as ex-presidents of America to create something bold, fun, unique and quintessentially Baby Velvet.”

“Wild Cherry Tree Drive” is a soulful journey and showcase of Baby Velvet’s ability to craft a musical landscape that mirrors the emotions.
