What We’ve Been Listening To: EVERLYNE

Brothers Nathan and Jordan, drummer Sam and vocalist Mac are fans of Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco and Windwaker.

Who is Everlyne and how did your namesake come about?

Everlyne is a 4 piece consisting of brothers, Nathan and Jordan, drummer Sam and vocalist Mac. We used to rehearse up the road from the Evelyn hotel in Brunswick and we were discussing band names one night and floated the name Evelyn, but decided to put a spin on it and came up with Everlyne, pronounced ever-line.

What artists or bands are on your must-listen to list lately and why?

The whole band are big fans of Bring Me The Horizon, Don Broco and Windwaker. All these bands have curated their own unique sound and have done so brilliantly. They all make their music so fun and fresh, and are incredible performers.

When you go into the recording studio to work on new material, what are your must-haves?

A 12 pack of energy drinks and good vibes!

But in all seriousness, we can’t do anything without Mac’s 7 journals of random lyrics. It always gives us a great starting point lyrically and can sometimes hold some hidden gems she’s been hoarding for years.

Which song, or songs, of yours would you recommend to a first-time listener and why?

It’d have to be ‘The Inbetween’, our second most recent release. We collaborated with some many amazing people on this track both musically and visually. We want them to receive all of the love for making our song sound and look incredible. It is also a new direction for us compared to our previous releases and we are looking to keep going down that path.

Which song of someone else’s (artist or band) would you have liked to feature on and why?

Such a hard question. We all love ‘Beautiful’ by Windwaker and we’d love to see Mac and Liam head to head with those high notes. Lowkey think Liam still has her beat. Soz Mac.

What has led you into becoming a musicians and why do you keep making music?

Mac grew up in a musical householder with musicians for parents and the rest of us started playing more classical instruments from a young age, all three of us playing piano and Sam playing the Saxophone as well. I think in high school we all selected more rock band type instruments as music classes in schools focus more on contemporary instruments.

We all love playing music and performing. It’s a great outlet and I know Mac uses it as an emotional lyrically. It’s great fun and a we great bunch of people to work with.
