Brisbane’s very own The Atomic Beau Project delivers a powerful new single “IN THE STORM,” tackling the journey of overcoming trauma in a virtuosic way. The quartet’s front-woman Emma draws from her experience as a mental health ambassador to create a poignant message that touches the listeners’ hearts through their soaring melodies and stirring synths. Behind the meticulously arranged instrumentation lies a message about the transformative coexistence of trauma therapy and hallucinogens.

“IN THE STORM” takes you on a sonic voyage, as Emma’s brilliant lyricism – depicts an Alice In Wonderland-esque forest where the subject – tackles the darkest parts of herself head-on. The music video further emphasises the story, through the transformative experience visually.

Emma’s lyrics further highlight the effects hallucinogens can have on mental health, taking inspiration from ancient cultures that have been practising this form of self-discovery and change for centuries. Emma also captures these themes in the lyrics of the track, which explore the deep roots we have with nature as a way of overcoming afflictions, the experiences people go through during hallucinogenic trips, and the mental journey the user takes in finding themselves during the experience.
