Peyton Shay’s “Lonely Chapstick” is the lighthearted observation of secrets

Emerging alt-pop artist Peyton Shay has released her latest single, “Lonely Chapstick,” from her forthcoming EP, due out this summer. Known for her evocative songwriting and melodies, Peyton has continuously demonstrated her talent since self-releasing her first breakup song in middle school. Hailing from a small town outside of Los Angeles, California, she has transformed personal experiences into powerful music that resonates with a wide audience, which is evident in this latest release.

Speaking on the release of the single, Peyton explains that ‘Lonely Chapstick’ was the first single she wrote for her new EP. “It began as a lighthearted observation about my constant need for chapstick, which we then used metaphorically to explore a secret but exhilarating relationship,” Peyton says. “As an independent person, the song delves into the fear of intimacy and the potential loss of self, as well as the risk of heartbreak.”

“Lonely Chapstick” is the latest addition to Peyton’s discography, following the release of singles “Savior Complex” and “Twisted Saint“. This new track is produced by Adam of The Colourist and mastered by John Greenham.

Peyton’s forthcoming EP showcases her unique ability to blend personal narrative with broad appeal, with expert production and mastering, with “Lonely Chapstick” setting a high standard for what you can expect from the full EP.
