RHYME SO’s ‘magick’ is an energetic multilingual anthem

Japanese DJ and music producer Shinichi Osawa, of MONDO GROSSO fame, and Australian poet, performer, and DJ, RHYME, have released new single, “magick”, a musical journey that showcasing a fusion of Vietnamese, English, and Japanese lyrics.

The interplay between Vietnamese rapper Táo and RHYME SO creates a mandala-patterned hip-hop experience, where Táo’s verses capture the ephemeral nature of contemporary life, addressing universal themes of helplessness, emptiness, and cyclical struggles. It’s a lyrical landscape that resonates with a diverse audience on a global scale.

Amidst the chaos, RHYME steps into the sonic fray with a compelling promise: “I want to be your magician.” This sentiment adds a layer of optimism and charm to the track, as RHYME offers a musical escape from the complexities of life. The juxtaposition of intense verses with the desire to be a source of enchantment creates a unique and intriguing dynamic. Shinichi – the musician behind MONDO GROSSO – weaves beats that maintain a sophistication and fluidity across the song.

““ magick” is a term that refers to the art of producing illusions or supernatural effects through the use of tricks, spells, or other techniques,” the duo say about the song. “Magic can be seen as a form of entertainment or as a way of manipulating the natural world in order to achieve certain ends. “Magick,” on the other hand, is a term that is often used to refer to a more spiritual or metaphysical form of magic. Magick is typically seen as a way of accessing and manipulating unseen forces or energies in order to bring about desired changes in the world. We desire to inspire you with this unexpected twisting body of creation.”

The industrial hip-hop undertones add a layer of complexity to the overall production. Where Osawa’s beats are not just a backdrop; they’re an integral part of the narrative, guiding listeners through the chaotic beauty of “magick.”

RHYME SO emerges as a dance music duo that blends the creative forces of Shinichi and RHYME into a sonic experience like no other. Their previous singles Fashion Blogger and DEEP IN VOGUE are a testament to their collective ability to push boundaries and explore the intersections of poetry, performance, and dance beats.

“magick” is full of relentless energy, multilingual verses, and sophisticated beats; showcasing the duo as a crafted unit that stands as architects reshaping the pop landscape with every beat and verse.
