Two sides of the pop spectrum have come together to cover Malcolm McLaren’s classic ‘DEEP IN VOGUE’. On one hand, you’ve got Japanese/Australian pop artists RHYME SO and on the other, you’ve got British pop icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Bringing together a dance music duo comprising Japan’s leading DJ and music producer Shinichi Osawa from MONDO GROSSO, and multihyphenate Australian musician RHYME – for RHYME SO – and someone who needs no further introduction in Sophie Ellis-Bextor; their latest single, ‘DEEP IN VOGUE’, is a cover and reinterpretation of the Malcolm McLaren classic, of the same name, while also giving it the respect it deserves with an uplifting arrangement and some improvised Japanese phrases.
You’d be remiss to overlook one of the – many – highlights of the track – a version of the original saxophone solo, this time performed on a soprano sax by RHYME herself.
