LASHES explores the joy and pain of anticipation in her newest single “Make Your Move”

Melbourne-via-Ballarat’s rising electro-pop artist, LASHES, has dropped a magnetic sonic bombshell titled “Make Your Move.” Released today, this dark and compelling composition marks another high point in LASHES’ meteoric rise over the past eighteen months. In fact, Eat This Music had a chat with LASHES back in 2021 – when she released her single “Heavenly” – which was a fantastic introduction into who she is as an artist, professionally and personally.

Known for her dynamic live performances, LASHES has been on a roll, with two sold-out debut headline shows, standout appearances at Spilt Milk and Groovin The Moo festivals in Australia, and coveted support slots alongside Boo Seeka, Cry Club, and I Know Leopard.

“Make Your Move” was crafted in collaboration with Michael Belsar during an intensive studio stint in mid-2022. “We were heavily in the cabin fever stage and wanted to peel back the layers and create something moody with an after dark feel,” says LASHES. “We both grew up in Ballarat and ran in the same circles but didn’t cross paths until recently.”

This release reflects LASHES’ signature approach to songwriting, not just as a skill, but also an opportunity for her to wear her her heart on her sleeve, using music as a canvas for personal experiences encompassing life, love, and everything in between.

“Make Your Move” is a bold and direct declaration, capturing the essence of the joy and pain that accompanies anticipation. This song serves as a reflection on stepping out of limbo and standing on the precipice of an ultimatum. LASHES lays bare words long left unsaid, marking a pivotal moment in her musical journey.

As LASHES has a treasure trove of unreleased music and “Make Your Move” is just a small taste of how easily she can solidify her status as a force to be reckoned with in the ever-evolving pop music landscape.
