Anna Shoemaker explores the reflection of self-analysis in her EP, “Hey Anna”

Brooklyn-based indie-pop artist Anna Shoemaker gives a captivating journey into her inner world with the release of her brand new EP, in which you get to hear Anna at her most raw and unadulterated form.

Across the 5-track EP, “Hey Anna”, you’re getting to witness Anna at her best, as she delivers a striking love letter to her inner child, exploring themes of intuition, heartbreak, and anxiety from a retrospective standpoint. The title track reflects on the process of growing up quickly as a defense mechanism, offering a poignant message to her younger self. Anna’s vocals shine with emotional depth, conveying a sense of vulnerability and self-reflection that resonates with the listener.

The entire EP serves as a creative contrast to Anna’s previous full release in 2022, diving deeper into self-analysis and personal growth. While her debut album was a whirlwind of unfiltered emotions, “Hey Anna” exhibits a more introspective approach, as she further tackles the difficult task of examining oneself and taking responsibility for personal struggles, a journey that can be both challenging and rewarding.

The EP features Anna’s previously released tracks, including “Holly“, the introspective single “I Think I“, and the evocative “666“. “When I wrote my album, I was in complete free fall,” Anna says about the release. “Every song was an unfiltered word vomit, calling out everything the way I saw it on impulse. My EP is more of a self-analysis.”

Anna Shoemaker’s stories in “Hey Anna” blend seamlessly across each song, with the EP’s polished production and enchanting instrumentals being highlights of the release.
