SOFI TUKKER – Jacaré

Sofi Tukker has released their latest single “Jacaré” and it’s a vibrant celebration of Brazilian culture and the LGBTQ+ community. The song boasts a combination of jazz, house, and electronic elements, with Sophie’s sultry vocals gliding effortlessly over Tucker’s infectious beats. The lyrics, co-written with Brazilian poet Chacal, take the derogatory term for women who like women and turn it into an empowering ode to sensuality and joy.

The accompanying music video, shot on location in Rio de Janeiro, is a riotous celebration of the band’s playful dynamic, as they compete for the affections of the same girl. The video’s director, Aerin Moreno, perfectly captures the song’s joyful energy and the beauty of Rio.

bludnymph – Watch Me

Bludnymph’s latest single “Watch Me” is a dark and seductive pop track that showcases her growth and evolution as an artist through a soundscape that embodies the feeling of an evil siren. The song’s lyrics tell the story of a powerful stripper who uses her magical abilities to steal her audience’s money. With this track, Bludnymph demonstrates her willingness to open up and share her deepest emotions and secrets.

Bludnymph’s lyrics in “Watch Me” are filled with confidence and empowerment, and her delivery is captivating. The dark and moody production, along with her alluring vocals, makes “Watch Me” an immersive experience. This single is a testament to Bludnymph’s talent and artistry, and a promising glimpse of what’s to come in her future music releases.

Tiiva – EVEN IF YOU CAN’T SAVE ME

Tiiva’s new single, “Even If You Can’t Save Me,” is a dreamy track inspired by the artist’s experience finding solace in nature after getting stranded on a camping trip. Tiiva says the experience of being out in the wilderness helped them rediscover their own resilience and escape from the chaos of their thoughts.

“I wrote this about escapism in love, rediscovering your own resilience in nature, and healing alongside close relationships,” Tiiva explains. “It felt like a window of strength in vulnerability through all the noise of thoughts and the chaos that they create. I am grateful to have found this moment as a letter written from the past to future me, rediscovering what it means to save yourself.”

GRAYtheband – All Done

GRAYtheband’s “All Done” serves as a powerful introduction to the namesake of Gray Ford’s forthcoming album with raw emotional depth and polished sound. The track’s warm piano melodies and echoing instrumentation provide the perfect backdrop for GRAYtheband’s melismatic vocals, capturing the song’s sedately powerful sound. The lyrics touch on the theme of overcoming personal challenges, offering a message of hope and support to listeners.

Skindred – If I Could

Skindred’s latest release is a powerful addition to their forthcoming album as this song showcases Frontman Benji at his storytelling peak, with inspiration for the song coming from the difficulties of lockdown and the impact it had on the world.

Captain Kaiser – GOODNIGHT

Captain Kaiser’s newest track is an emotive post-punk ballad, featuring lead singer Sascha’s poignant vocals as he sings about saying goodbye to his mother for the final time. The song takes a turn halfway through, transitioning into a powerful, resolving tribute.

Hana McCartney – Dope

Penelope Robin – Taking Back Sunday

Penelope Robin’s “Taking Back Sunday” is an inspiring journey of self-discovery and empowerment through a soft retro ’80s synth opening, the track quickly transforms into a fierce and energetic tune with dynamic guitar riffs and Penelope’s spirited vocals. The song’s message of taking control of one’s personal power and time wasted is brought to life in the accompanying music video, directed by legendary Colombian director Herney Luna, featuring Brandon Figueredo as Penelope’s love interest.

The video portrays a lover’s argument, leading Penelope on a journey of self-discovery and leaving the past behind. This track is Penelope’s second single, following on from her well-received and Eat This Music favourite reggaeton-rock anthem “Animal“, which was an absolute beaut!

Feral Family – Smother

Feral Family’s latest track “Smother” is a seesawing ride that expertly blends doomy post-punk with colossal choruses, melodic guitars and clanging, and industrial drums that create a sense of impending doom, while the roaring and rampageous vocals transport the listener to a place of apocalyptic angst.

The lyrics of “Smother” dive into the dark depths of regret and introspection, as vocalist Jamie reflects on the decisions we make in life and the negative repercussions that can haunt us. It’s like an internal monologue that we hide from others, a homage to our own mistakes and insecurities.

Neev – Will I Change You

Glaswegian singer-songwriter Neev’s latest single is a captivating indie-folk offering that doubles as a tribute to contemporary Scottish artists that inspire her, featuring loud and quiet moments reminiscent of artists like Frightened Rabbit and Paolo Nutini.
