The Atomic Beau Project explore the transformative coexistence of trauma in their new single “IN THE STORM”

Brisbane’s very own The Atomic Beau Project delivers a powerful new single “IN THE STORM,” tackling the journey of overcoming trauma in a virtuosic way. The quartet’s front-woman Emma draws from her experience as a mental health ambassador to create a poignant message that touches the listeners’ hearts through their soaring melodies and stirring synths. Behind the meticulously arranged instrumentation lies a message about the transformative coexistence of trauma therapy and hallucinogens.

“IN THE STORM” takes you on a sonic voyage, as Emma’s brilliant lyricism – depicts an Alice In Wonderland-esque forest where the subject – tackles the darkest parts of herself head-on. The music video further emphasises the story, through the transformative experience visually.

“As a mental health worker, I find this such an amazingly interesting way of overcoming adversity, facing your fears, and getting into the depths of your soul.” — Emma from The Atomic Beau Project

Emma’s lyrics further highlight the effects hallucinogens can have on mental health, taking inspiration from ancient cultures that have been practising this form of self-discovery and change for centuries. Emma also captures these themes in the lyrics of the track, which explore the deep roots we have with nature as a way of overcoming afflictions, the experiences people go through during hallucinogenic trips, and the mental journey the user takes in finding themselves during the experience.

“IN THE STORM” was recorded in-house by guitarist Andy and was mastered by Lance, and it’s a testament to the group’s fresh take on modern rock while staying true to their progressive roots, and “IN THE STORM” is a powerful and haunting single that delves into the depths of human existence and offers a message of hope. With its memorable melodies, stirring lyrics, and powerful instrumentation, this track is sure to resonate with fans of progressive rock and metal.
