Eat This Song of the Day: ‘Getting Good’ by Liza Owen

Liza Owen is a Pop artist and coming off the release of her hugely popular “Why Aren’t We Having Sex?” earlier in 2020, the Los Angeles native has returned with her follow-up single “Getting Good”, a song that tells the story of story of self-destruction and the lengths we go to leading ourselves down the wrong paths while touching on the dualities that live inside all of us.

Taking a DIY approach to her songwriting, Liza offers a stripped-back, acoustic setting for her newest single, which sees Liza showcase her vocals at the forefront of a project that doesn’t skim on the guitar-driven instrumental setting of her world.

Speaking on the release of the single, Liza explains that this song is really about self-destruction and recognising that sometimes we’re all a bit lost. “It’s kind of a dark song,” she continues, “but there’s also a weird sense of empowerment in just owning that darker side of yourself and all your floors.”
