‘Rock N’ Roll You Won’t Save Me’ is a thrilling document of GROUPLOVE’s live prowess

After more than a decade of shape-shifting sound and emotionally fearless songwriting, GROUPLOVE is leaning into what they do best – bringing raw, ecstatic energy to the stage – and bottling that lightning in their newest release. This new live albmum was recorded during the band’s Winter 2024 headlining tour, where it [the live album] documents a career-defining night at Chicago’s Riviera Theatre, offering fans a front-row experience of a band in full flight.

Far from a simple concert recording, the album is a chaotic, joyful celebration of GROUPLOVE’s evolution and enduring spirit. It includes renditions of “Borderlines and Aliens,” “Malachi,” “Cruel and Beautiful World,” “Raspberry,” and “Colours,” along with a raucous, unhinged cover of Blur’s “Song 2.”

“This tour was an incredible and surreal heart-opening experience for us,” the band says about the experience. “It was our first headlining tour in several years, and we were playing some of our favorite venues across the country.”

“When we came together, it felt like we were one giant organism—lifting each other up and letting go of everything we didn’t need. It felt really good. So good that we wanted to remember it, press it, and share it with you.” — GROUPLOVE

And that’s exactly what this album delivers: a preserved moment of adrenaline, and connection. Mixed by engineer Matty Green, every track is full of sweat-soaked energy that has long made GROUPLOVE one of the most dynamic and uplifting live acts around.

Led by the dynamic duo of Hannah and Christian, with Andrew on guitar, Daniel on bass, and Ben on drums, the band continues to stretch and reshape the contours of indie rock without ever losing their deeply personal, defiant edge. Rock N’ Roll You Won’t Save Me [LIVE] is a reminder of what it means to feel fully alive in a room full of strangers, bonded by volume, sweat, and the unspoken joy of being completely in the moment.
