Leah Nawy’s ‘Mixing Patterns’ is a lesson in collaboration

NYC-based indie pop artist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Leah Nawy has returned with her new single Mixing Patterns, a slow-burning, soul-stirring track that marks a significant moment of her artistic transformation.

The song is structured to mirror its themes – beginning with a quiet, introspective tone before gaining momentum. A climactic bridge delivers a burst of energy before the track shifts into a lo-fi, feel-good groove, symbolising growth, release, and rebirth. This evolution reflects the story within the song and Leah’s own growth as an artist. “It’s about starting over on your own terms—letting go of old habits,” Leah explains, “trusting yourself, and embracing change.”

Mixing Patterns represents a pivotal moment in Leah’s creative development. “It was a lesson in collaboration, in arrangement bending, in keeping something familiar yet new, in following my instincts,” Leah continues. “It’s the first song that truly felt like me, and it’s followed me through every stage of becoming the artist I am now.”

Co-produced by Leah and James Sleeman, Mixing Patterns is an exploration of self-trust and awakening, which is built around Leah’s emotive vocals and melodies. The track blends stillness and movement, further telling the story of the internal process of breaking free from self-doubt and stepping confidently into a new chapter. Crafting this track helped Leah reconnect with her instincts and refine her artistic identity, as the new single marks a new era, one in which she leans fully into her layered, genre-blending style and expressive storytelling.

Leah is a Taiwanese-American songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music draws from indie rock, folk, and soul, and it is evident in this new single that she is able to weave intricate emotions into sonic landscapes, as she writes with honesty and intention, crafting songs that resonate on a deeply personal level.
