Another Damn Disappointment’s ‘Bedlam’ is a heartfelt tribute to their founding bassist

Sacramento, California’s punk stalwarts Another Damn Disappointment (A.D.D.) have returned with Bedlam, their first full-length album in over a decade. More than just a new record, Bedlam is a heartfelt tribute to founding bassist Casey, who tragically passed away in a car accident in 2016.

Bedlam is the product of years of persistence, grief, and passion. Though Casey recorded his bass parts prior to his death, the project remained unfinished until lead vocalist Joshua completed the lyrics and vocals with the support of the band. This posthumous collaboration is a celebration of Casey’s legacy and a showcase of the band’s enduring bond as artistic brothers.

The album was self-produced by the band in Sacramento, at a studio with deep roots in the local music scene. Engineering was handled by Joe Johnston, best known for his work on Cake’s platinum albums Fashion Nugget and Prolonging the Magic. The mixing and mastering were completed in 2024 by Jason Livermore, whose credits include legendary punk acts like Descendents, Rise Against, and Black Flag.

The band has returned to the music scene they helped shape with their new album and also honoured their roots and fallen comrade. In fact, the album’s emotional weight is matched by offering to longtime fans with gritty, melodic punk sounds – elevated by years of experience and raw songs. Formed in 1999, A.D.D. carved out their place in the West Coast punk scene with a sound influenced by 90s bands, while staying true to their own melodic style, the band originated when Joshua overheard Ross and Casey discussing forming a band at a high school party – an encounter that would lead to decades of music, friendship, and shows.
