AleXa’s latest single, “i’m okay”, is a powerful reminder of the importance of mental health awareness. Coinciding with Mental Health Awareness Month, AleXa’s song is particularly special as she wrote it herself, drawing from her own journey with bipolar disorder.
This personal touch to the song brings with it a raw authenticity; empathy and solidarity for anyone facing mental health challenges. Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, AleXa is the daughter of a Korean adoptee and has been a dancer all her life.
“This song is a love letter to those struggling with mental health, and it comes from a place of honesty and understanding,” AleXa says about the song. “I, myself, struggle with bipolar disorder, so I know the ins-and-outs and ups-and-downs of facing your darkest demons.”

“More often than not, when approached with the question, ‘How are you?,’ our default response is, ‘I’m okay.’ I want this song to show that the conversation doesn’t have to stop at ‘I’m okay,’ and that it’s okay to be honest and to seek help when necessary.” — AleXa on her new song.
AleXa’s “i’m okay” is a message of hope, and she uses her powerful voice to entertain and share important conversations about mental health.
