Candi Carpenter’s ‘Demonology’ isn’t just an album; it’s an exorcism

Singer, songwriter, and musician Candi Carpenter‘s album “Demonology” is a transformative album serving as an exorcism of inner demons and a profound journey of self-discovery. Featuring twelve tracks, Candi’s body of work showcases their artistic evolution – delving into themes of self-acceptance, identity – and introspection.

In Candi’s own words, “Demonology” is not merely an album; it’s an outlet for exorcising personal demons. “These songs gave my inner demons a void to scream into,” Candi says. “Writing this project was cathartic for that part of me who will always be a midwestern pastor’s kid, trapped forever in a church basement fellowship hall.”

“I’m grateful for ‘Demonology’ because it helped me discover that I’m non-binary and autistic.” — Candi Carpenter

Produced by Candi, Peter Shurkin, and Alden Witt, “Demonology” represents Candi’s most authentic and vulnerable work to date. Departing from their country roots, Candi embraces the alternative/pop space where they feel most genuine. Their candid exploration of personal experiences, from religious trauma to sexuality, has resonated deeply with audiences, fostering a unique bond between Candi and their listeners. “I know myself better because of this music, and I hope these 12 tracks will help other people learn to love their demons the way that I have,” Candi adds.
