San Cisco’s newest album “Under The Light” is a new phase of maturity

In a momentous stride into a new era, Australian indie stalwarts San Cisco have unveiled their highly awaited album, “Under The Light.” The record encapsulates a delicate equilibrium between euphoria and melancholy, showcasing the trio’s evolution into a realm of maturity, vulnerability, and musical experimentation.

A testament to their journey, both lyrically and musically, the album is a collaboration of the talents of producer James Ireland, Neal H. Pogue, and Anthony Dolhai. A substantial portion of 2023 was dedicated to studio sessions, with the band strategically splitting their time between LA and their hometown of Fremantle. The result is a harmoniously blend of indie-pop expertise with fresh perspectives, marked by further collaborations with Jay Watson and Nicholas Allbrook from Tame Impala and POND, respectively. The production journey, helmed by James Ireland, breathed life into the band’s musical aspirations, transcending conventional studio spaces and flourishing in the intimate settings of their homes.

“Collaborating with our close friend and producer, James Ireland, was an exciting and fresh journey that allowed us to fully actualise our musical aspirations. The album was predominantly written and recorded in our studio, kitchens, and living rooms at home in Fremantle” the band explain.“This unique experience was unlike anything we’ve undertaken before, and we couldn’t be prouder of this body of work.”

“We couldn’t be prouder of this body of work,” express the band, reflecting on the unique and transformative experience of writing and recording predominantly in familiar home environments,” they continue. “The collaborative effort, further enriched by James Ireland’s expertise, resonates through each track, fostering an environment of creative freedom and authenticity.”

San Cisco’s “Under The Light” is an exploration with thematic depth mirroring the complexities of life. The album title serves as a metaphor – encapsulating the brilliance of a West Australian summer – the sterile atmosphere of a dentist’s chair, or the stark illumination of an interrogation room. The trio exposes themselves emotionally, confronting the challenges of a changing world, navigating the moral uncertainties of adulthood and relationships, and weaving a sun-speckled ode to human kindness.

San Cisco, hailing from Fremantle, Western Australia, has garnered immense success over their illustrious ten-year career. As independent artists, they have secured multiple accolades, solidifying their position as a beloved and influential force in the indie-pop landscape, with “Under The Light” marking a pivotal chapter in their musical journey.
