Valencia Grace’s “Opera” is a showcase of organic creativity

Today marks a significant milestone for singer-songwriter Valencia Grace as she releases “Opera,” the third track from her EP. Following the releases of “Roses” and “Skin,” this new single cements the artist’s reputation as a compelling storyteller.

Valencia’s musical journey traces back to her teenage years when she found solace in songwriting as a means of expression. Raised in diverse locales like Los Angeles, Dallas Texas, and Kuala Lumpur, she drew inspiration from her personal experiences and struggles. It was during this time that she discovered her passion for entertaining people, fueled by her love for Motown and soul music, which left an indelible mark on her artistic expression and is spread throughout her work today.

In discussing the inspiration behind “Opera,” Valencia shares a anecdote of its inception: “Writing ‘Opera’ was such a fun experience, it really came out of nowhere,” she says. “I was visiting Multnomah Falls in Portland, Oregon at the time, fully surrounded by nature and sensory experiences.” The song’s genesis, amidst the raw elements of wind, snow, and water, underscores the organic creativity that defines Valencia’s body of work.

Accompanying the release is an official music video that serves as an immersive visual representation of the track’s essence. Directed by Valencia herself and collaborator Billy Cole Landers, the video dives into themes of rawness and liberation, showcasing Valencia’s multifaceted persona. From dancing through a forest to exuding a dark and regal aesthetic, the video captures the evolution and complexity of Valencia’s journey.

Despite stumbling into music, Valencia has emerged as a performer and storyteller, where her journey continues to grow.
