Voodoo Bloo’s ‘HOT GARBAGE’ is an exploration of music without borders

New Zealand’s Voodoo Bloo takes you on a journey through the tumultuous landscape of personal transformation and the complexities of evolving relationships with their latest single “Hot Garbage”. This track is also a showcase of the band’s ability to mix together raw emotional energy with lyricism, creating a sound that is fiercely authentic and reflective.

The genesis of the song lies in the exploration of human metamorphosis—the bewildering process of watching someone familiar morph into what the band describes as “an absolute idiot.” This theme of the song further encapsulates the frustration and confusion that accompanies drastic change. “Creating ‘HOT GARBAGE’ was an exploration of music without borders, and the whirlwind that accompanies it,” says Voodoo Bloo’s frontman. “We really tried to return to our punk roots in this new LP, and in the pursuit of that, the lyrics that came out were much more visceral and to the point, we didn’t want to hold back on this track.”

Recorded at Massey University in Wellington and produced by the band’s drummer – in collaboration with the group – the single benefits from the mixing expertise of Scott Seabright; as “HOT GARBAGE” stands as a fiery declaration of the band’s relentless pursuit of authenticity and emotional honesty with more to come in 2024.
