Alt-dance trio Haiku Hands‘ “Cool For You” is a vibrant prelude to their upcoming album, due out for release in December. Produced by the Motez, this track is a sonic explosion that doesn’t just showcase their musical expertise, but also how they cam craft an experience that confronts corporate sterility with pulsating, dancefloor-melting sonics.
“Cool For You” is a celebration of self, an anthem for feeling good without succumbing to the pressures of consumer culture. The trio, consisting of Claire, Beatrice, and Mie, collaborated with producer Motez to deliver a track that challenges the norms of capitalism, urging you to embrace your awesomeness without external validations.
“This song is about feeling yourself, being at a party and enjoying being yourself,” Beatrice says about the song. “Being with your crew and feeling everybody, it’s the antithesis of capitalism — that you need to be something else, that you need another product to feel good, that you need anything.”
“It’s a statement that you’re already good. In fact you’re already awesome and mad and lit and you should be singing it from the rooftop and celebrating yourself and backing yourself and feeling yourself.” — Beatrice from Haiku Hands
Accompanying the explosive single is a music video – directed and produced by Jasmin Tarasin – where the visual narrative, portrayed by performers Madeleine Baghurst and Vivian Tran, adds a dynamic layer to Haiku Hands’ already compelling auditory experience. The video aligns with the trio’s ethos, capturing the unapologetic celebration of individuality that defines the song’s story.
“Cool For You” serves as a glimpse into Haiku Hands’ forthcoming album – conceived during a writing trip to Indonesia and nurtured through a 2023 US tour – promising to be an eclectic fusion of carnal, animalistic joys and a rebellion against society’s capitalistic vampires.
