Ferris & Sylvester explore the nuances of loneliness and disconnection in their latest EP

Ferris & Sylvester‘s new EP, ‘Otherness – Side A (Storm),’ sets the stage for the duos eagerly anticipated second album, ‘Otherness,’ due out for release in March 2024.

This EP brings together Ferris & Sylvester’s recent hits, including ‘Dark Side‘ and ‘Imposter,’ and their anti-love anthem ‘Don’t Fall In Love With Me‘ being highlights of the record; with an innovative digital campaign, ‘Side A (Storm)’ provides fans with a unique opportunity to experience the album’s vinyl charm in digital form.

Produced by one half-of the duo, Archie Sylvester, and also Michael Rendall, the EP was crafted during sessions split between their Archtop Studios and Peter Gabriel’s iconic Real World Studios. Every note and every beat, were recorded directly to a vintage 1960s tape machine, a nod to the analog warmth that permeates the entire set, setting it apart from the digital mainstream.

“When writing this album, we felt each side of vinyl told its own story,” Issy says about the production of the record. “This side is called ‘Storm’, as that’s how these songs felt when writing them – like a storm coming thick and fast, unstoppable and full of thunder.”

Adding a fresh breeze to the storm is the EP’s newest track to be released, ‘End of the World.’ A love story set against the backdrop of an impending apocalypse, this song showcases Ferris & Sylvester’s evolution, with Issy’s emotive vocals leading the charge. It’s a dizzyingly timeless piece, a dreamy blend of pop ambiance and torch song yearning, capturing hearts with its enchanting beauty and haunting undertones.

Accompanying the song is a live video shot at Real World Studios, featuring Ferris & Sylvester alongside the Halo Strings quartet, Ross Gordon on drums, and Edu Bisogno on keys. It’s a visual and auditory treat that adds another layer to the duo’s already captivating repertoire.

With this lead-up to the entire release of ‘Otherness’ in March 2024, Issy Ferris and Archie Sylvester aka Ferris & Sylvester have given us a shared journey through lyrics that explore the nuances of loneliness and disconnection.
