Sophisticated Dingo explore the fantasy of facades in their latest single “Been Thinking”

Fresh off their electrifying performances at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND, Sophisticated Dingo’s “Been Thinking” effortlessly weaves through layers of pop, delivering punchy sing-along moments while exploring the fantasy of facades.

“Been Thinking” explores the unraveling of a facade – the commonplace act of masking true emotions with a fake smile – with layers of pop to create a vibrant atmosphere, while sparse moments add depth and emotional resonance. The result is a finely crafted piece that not only showcases their musical prowess but also underscores their ability to connect with universal themes.

“It is commonplace to fake a smile in disguise of the stress and anguish you are feeling”, Lewis says about the song. “This decoy might avoid detection momentarily, but is weakly maintained at best. Even the smallest of inconveniences can trigger all of your screws to come loose. Despite best intentions, your true colours shine bright, and for the better. The real you is out in the open. You can connect with the chaos of the real world rather than hide away in your fantasy of control and calm.”

“Been Thinking” marks the fourth release from Sophisticated Dingo in 2023, following “VCR” in August and follows in the footsteps of their hit single “Radio On“. The band’s consistent success, both in Australia and internationally, is a showcase of their authenticity and ability to create music that resonates across diehard fans.

“Been Thinking” not only showcases the band’s musical expertise but also offers a profound exploration of the human experience.
