Jiants’ “Moon Lit” is a haunting dive into the nostalgic longing for summer love

Jesse Landen – the ex-pro skateboarder turned indie rocker – has delivered a captivating sonic journey with his band, Jiants‘ latest offering, “Moon Lit“. This track, nestled within their fourth record presents an introspective exploration of nostalgia, longing, and the bittersweet allure of summer love.

“Moon Lit” opens with a hypnotic guitar riff that is a lush blend of dreamy, reverbed guitars and a steady rhythmic foundation that overlays the solid production, helmed by Gavin Gardiner, in an expertly balanced offering of quality grounded, earthy texture.

The slow build of the track allows breathing room for the layers of sound to push forward the story, creating a rich and enveloping sonic instrumentation that mirrors the song’s overall theme of capturing the wistful essence of chasing elusive summer memories.

“Our new song, “Moon Lit,” is about waking up to the fact that you might just be chasing the nostalgia of imaginary summer love,” Jesse says about the song. “You might be catching yourself dreaming of lustful, humid, summer nights that keep you in a perpetual loop of hypothetical excitement for the unknowns just around the bend.”

Jesse’s vocals are hauntingly evocative and his delivery is filled with a sense of yearning, perfectly complementing the lyrical narrative across the three-minute runtime. The narrative arc of the song is one of realisation and growth, where Jesse’s journey becomes palpable through his emotive vocals and storytelling.

Jiants have created a nice song that dives deep into the complex emotions of nostalgia and longing.
