Sydney pop-punk powerhouse Dial Denial’s ‘Paperwings’ bursts forth with uncontainable energy from the very first note. Frontman Fergus’ vocals – husky and emotionally charged – serve as the guiding force through this exhilarating sonic offering.
The heart of the track lies in its guitar melody, as it captures the essence of Dial Denial’s raw, unapologetic sound. But ‘Paperwings’ is not just about musical prowess; it’s a lyrical journey through the labyrinth of growing up, and to celebrate the release of the single, Dial Denial took part in the latest series of “What We’ve Been Listening To” on Eat This Music.

Dial Denial are a 4-piece pop-punk band emerging from the Northern Suburbs of Sydney, featuring Fergus, Owen, Bailey and Justin. When we started back in 2018 our singer, Fergus, wrote out as many band names as possible, most of them were terrible but when he read out the name Dial 1800 Denial to the rest of the band it stuck, dropping the 1800 the rest of the boys agreed that was the best name and it has only grown on us since.
Must listen artists of ours include Neck Deep, Stand Atlantic, and Yours Truly as they all have an amazing catalogue with loads of bangers, and all well produced.
If we’re talking any genre probably ‘Fireflies’ by Owl City, it’s a banger and has huge inspiration on ‘Paperwings’ especially with the guitar leads. However, Pop-Punk wise, we’d probably say ‘Can’t Kick Up The Roots’ by Neck Deep.

Either ‘Killara Road’ or ‘Overtime’ as we believe these are our best songs and the direction we’re heading in. These songs are also the standard we’ve set for ourselves for the future.
Stevie, good demos, a good nights sleep, a top tier feed nearby or snacks, computers and phones + chargers, water and a calculator.
We keep making music because we love it so much, everything from writing music that we can call our own and being proud of. We also love recording with Stevie Knight and then releasing tracks into the world, along with playing our songs at live shows. It’s a whirlwind cycle of ups and downs but we love it! We also love meeting bands that are already in the scene and fans of our music and hearing people say that they like our stuff and or are inspired is such a good feeling we’ll never get sick of.
