Feral Family explore the the idea of inner-conflict in their newest single, “This Side of Me”

Feral Family’s “This Side of Me” is their first release following the their debut EP earlier this year. This new track is an electrifying journey through the tumultuous landscape of internal conflicts, captured by the band’s unique blend of fuzzy, industrial-tinged rock.

This song is an anthem that grabs you by the senses, with churned-up riffs colliding against drums, it [the song] showcases a sonic whirlwind that mirrors the turbulent inner thoughts explored in the lyrics by frontman Jamie. Feral Family’s vocals on “This Side of Me” are delivered in a haunting way that evokes a sense of raw vulnerability, perfectly complementing the song’s theme of inner turmoil.

“‘This Side Of Me’ conveys the idea of inner-conflict and the struggle to maintain a positive facade while dealing with personal demons,” the band says about the song. “It tells the story of a person who is waiting to experience a past feeling once again, however they blame themselves for not being able to control their emotions. Despite surviving through difficult times, they eventually break down emotionally and leave a mark on someone else’s life.”

The production of the song is a fantastic example of Feral Family’s growth as a band, as industrial influences are woven into the fabric of the track’s underlying instrumentals, adding depth and texture to the overall quality. The juxtaposition of gritty, distorted guitar riffs against the backdrop of synths creates a landscape that is immersive and unsettling.

The song also serves as the first taste of the band’s upcoming self-titled album, set for release in January 2024.
