Savana Santos’ “Cheater” is an ode to old versions of love through heartache and turmoil

Savana Santos’ “Cheater” is a mix of heartache and turmoil, with a shimmering bedroom pop aesthetic. The track stands as showcase of Savana’s ability to weave intricacy and catchiness into a single, beguiling composition.

“Cheater” gives a glimpse of Savana’s personal world, exploring a narrative that deviates from the storyline of an affair, diving into the territory of erstwhile version of a love interest. Amidst the tension-laden atmosphere of the song’s changing emotions, the track unfolds with an admission that cuts through the air like a clarion call: “I’m a liar I’m a cheater I’m in love with the old you.”

“This was about a specific time in my life,” Santos says about her song’s story. “It’s one of the songs that I didn’t love the day I wrote it, but a few weeks later I felt it with all of my heart.”

Savana’s candid reflection unveils the nuanced layers of her song, where initial uncertainty metamorphosed into profound authenticity. Savana’s ability to dissect emotions and reconstruct them through her music is truly a beautiful, audible aesthetic of her music.

The track follows her previously released lead single, “Messy“, a taste of her forthcoming full-length solo debut.
