Ponette’s latest EP is a captivating mix of dark synth-pop and emotional lyricism

Norwegian pop artist Ponette has released her latest EP titled “I Think The World Was Better Without Me In It”. Ponette brings a dark and catchy pop sound with this new EP, that showcases her signature synth-driven electronic pop sound while incorporating vulnerable and emotional lyricism.

Each track on the 4-track EP is vastly different, demonstrating Ponette’s depth of songwriting skills. Her creative process for this project involved playing with and dissecting her own thoughts and feelings. She revealed, “One of my favourite things is when I manage to translate a special feeling into words. I often feel quite misunderstood, and that what I am trying to say is not coming fully through. Because of that, it makes it super satisfactory and almost a bit magical when I have the time and space to really pinpoint a feeling using words.”

“Lots of heavy feelings wrapped up in what I consider to a dance track, or at least the closest I have come to make one (so far).” — Ponette on her EP title track

Growing up in a small and shy town in Norway, Ponette learned the importance of blending in and not making a fuss about anything. She spent her childhood trying to please everyone and not taking up any unnecessary space, being the middle child in a family where the two remaining siblings were seriously ill and/or physically handicapped. However, she has spent her whole adult life trying to challenge herself and fight against this way of being. Her music has become a platform for her to freely express herself and at times, has been life-saving.

Ponette continues to prove that she’s a rising star in the pop/indie scene, delivering a unique and captivating sound that will undoubtedly earn her more praise from critics and fans alike.
