Sea of Flame explore the isolation of the human experience in their new EP, ‘Bristlecone’

Sea of Flame, the rising four-piece of Rocky Mountain riff rock, have released their much-anticipated EP, Bristlecone, and it’s a fiery addition to their already impressive discography. The EP, released through Iron Head Records and Golden Robot Records, features five tracks that showcase the band’s groovy guitar work and complex, ever-moving rhythms.

But Bristlecone isn’t just about the music, as lyrically, the EP reflects on the isolation of the modern world and the power of breaking that isolation by banding together to accomplish more than can be done as individuals. It’s a message that feels particularly relevant in these times and one that you’ll find yourself nodding along to.

It would be an understatement to say that Sea of Flame has been setting the underground scene ablaze for over a decade, as it’s clear that they’ve honed their craft to a razor-sharp edge, as a quartet – consisting of Jim on drums, Heavy on guitar, Ben on bass, and Miles on vocals and guitar – they are known for their intense live shows that leave audiences begging for more. And with Bristlecone, they’ve brought that same energy to the studio, resulting in a special blend of what each band member brings to the table.

Their sound is characterised by powerful guitar riffs, driving bass lines, and thunderous drumming, with lyrics and vocal melodies that bring everyone in. But what really sets Sea of Flame apart is their willingness to explore different emotions and themes through their music, which shows through this 5-track EP. From the opening track “Pins and Needles” to the closing title track, each song is a masterclass in rock instrumentals and production. And with lyrics that hit home, it’s an EP that you’ll want to listen to again and again.

After a decade of honing their craft, the band is stronger than ever and ready to ignite a flame that will continue to burn for years to come.
