Freya Beer dives into temptation and obsession in her new double-A side

Freya Beer has returned with her first release(s) for 2023 in the form of a double-A side single, “Fantasy“/”Galore“, which is an exciting glimpse into the direction of her upcoming second album. The two tracks are a study in contrasts, showcasing the breadth of Freya’s artistic abilities. While “Fantasy” is a raunchy, sexually charged romp through garage rock and rap, “Galore” is a brooding, goth-rock ballad that delves into the dangerous world of obsession.

“Fantasy” opens with prowling proto-punk riffs and Freya’s compelling vocals. The track is a celebration of our wildest daydreams and uncensored selves. Freya’s lyrics are tactile and provocative, urging listeners to embrace their feelings in a positive way. The song is a raw exploration of self-discovery, expressed through Freya’s unfiltered emotions.

Directed by acclaimed videographer Paul Gallagher, the video for “Fantasy” is a one-take film shot in London. It vividly focuses on Freya’s artistic vision for the tracks, showcasing her bold and fearless approach to music.

On the other side, “Galore” is a more sinister affair portrayed vocally by Freya. The track is a cautionary tale about the dangers of obsession, as Freya sings about the consequences of infatuation. The goth-rock ballad is spun through webs of feedback-scarred guitars, brooding synthesizers, and devilish vocal acrobatics. The result is a haunting and captivating track that leaves you breathless.

Freya Beer’s latest double-A side single is a testament to her versatility as an artist, with “Fantasy” and “Galore” both tracks that showcase Freya’s raw emotion, tantalising lyrics, and powerful instrumentation. They are a taste of what is to come from her upcoming second album, and I cannot wait to hear more as Eat This Music has been a fan of Freya’s every since the release of her debut in 2019.
