JFA and Ed Colver revive the golden age of Punk in ‘Stage Dive’

JFA, the seminal skate punk band that has been rocking stages since the early 80s, is back with a vengeance with “Stage Dive.” Teaming up with punk rock photographer Ed Colver, the band has created a music video that captures the raw energy of their live performances and the mayhem of stage diving.

Ed, known for his signature high-contrast imagery, has captured some of the most iconic moments of the early 80s punk scene, from TSOL to Social Distortion to JFA themselves. Ed’s images have graced the covers of albums by Circle Jerks, Black Flag, Bad Religion, and many more. For “Stage Dive,” Ed has opened up his archives to showcase his stunning shots of the aerial chaos and slam dance mayhem that defined the era.

The music video for “Stage Dive” tells the story of a punker who finds temporary freedom in flight, while the band’s lead screamer, Brian Brannon, crashes headfirst into the ground when the crowd parts like the Red Sea. Brannon himself has experienced this fate, as evidenced by the video’s final photo, which shows him unconscious in the pit in a pool of his own blood.

“Ed Colver was and remains a legend unto himself when it comes to capturing the very essence of hardcore punk in action, and we are beyond stoked he opened up his archives for this project,” said JFA lead screamer Brian Brannon. “Stage Dive” tells the story of a punker who finds release in the momentary freedom of flight, while the singer of the band playing at the time instead plunges headfirst into the ground when the crowd “parts like the Red Sea.”

JFA’s music has always been fueled by their passion for skateboarding, surfing, and punk rock, and their latest single “Stage Dive” is no exception. The band’s unrelenting energy and passion for their craft is evident in every note they play and every stage they grace. For fans of old-school punk rock and skate punk, JFA is a band that cannot be missed.
