Sohodolls’ “Bang Bang Bang Bang” is a nostalgic throwback to the early ’90s

London’s very own electro-rockers, Sohodolls, have made a triumphant return to the limelight with their new release, “Bang Bang Bang Bang (Kill The Gun).” The track, which originally hit the scene over a decade ago, has been revived in the most unexpected way by the TikTok generation. Thanks to Madonna sharing a clip of her daughter performing a choreographed routine to the song, the track has gone viral and racked up over 100 million streams on Spotify.

Sohodolls’ latest version of “BBBB” is a perfect fusion of grunge rock and pop production. The explosive distorted guitar riffs replace the original synth-heavy soundscape, giving the track a more raw and edgy feel. The combination of the gritty instrumentation with Maya Von Doll’s infectious vocals is a match made in musical heaven. The new rendition is both nostalgic for the early ’90s and fresh and relevant for 2023.

Maya Von Doll’s lyrical prowess is on full display in “BBBB” with the new version offering a clearer message. Von Doll changed the lyrics from “hold the gun” to “kill the gun” to make her stance on guns even more explicit. The track is not about school shootings, but rather about finding one’s tribe as a misfit. Maya Von Doll drew inspiration from her teenage years when she wrote the song, feeling like she didn’t quite fit in with any of the cliques at school. The track is a testament to the power of finding like-minded people and is a perfect fit for the times we’re living in now.

Sohodolls have once again proven their ability to create music that resonates with audiences across generations. “Bang Bang Bang Bang (Kill The Gun)” is a perfect mix of pop-rock production, gritty vocals, and relatable themes. This track is sure to be a hit and solidify Sohodolls’ status as one of London’s most influential electro-rockers.
