Franky Wah and Cristoph’s new collaborative single, “Darkest Hour,” is an exceptional addition to the world of melodic house and techno. The release of “Darkest Hour” follows the duo’s 2021 single and is a continuation of their ongoing theme of collaboration. “Darkest Hour,” is a standout piece that features the soulful vocals of Diana Miro. Miro’s emotional harmonies and enchanting lyrics make her one of dance music’s most intriguing new talents.

The production quality of “Darkest Hour” is highlighted by its melodic soundscape and thumping bassline. The track’s lyrics are deeply moving and relatable, further elevating the emotional impact of the music. The vocal performance by Diana Miro is truly outstanding, and her soaring voice is perfectly matched to the instrumental accompaniment.

Frankie Rose – Come Back

Frankie Rose’s latest single “Come Back” is a refreshing take on synthpop, and serves as the third single from her upcoming LP – due out in March – the track showcases a unique blend of alternative production, instrumentals, and vocals that highlight the artist’s evolution and newfound artistic identity.

Frankie Rose’s extensive background in independent music circles across New York and Los Angeles is evident in “Come Back.” The track’s alternative/indie production style is a departure from her earlier work, demonstrating her growth and experimentation. The song’s opening sequence features a steady drumbeat layered with synth-pop instrumentals that gradually build up to a soaring crescendo.

The vocals on “Come Back” are another highlight of the track. Frankie’s signature melodies and dense, ethereal harmonies are present throughout the song, but with a new sense of confidence and maturity. Her voice is both powerful and vulnerable, capturing the essence of the song’s emotional core. The lyrics are poignant and introspective, touching on themes of heartbreak and longing.

THEIA – Crucified By U

Theia’s latest single ‘Crucified By U’ is an explosive and empowering anthem that leaves a lasting impact with its high-energy trap and industrial sounds, the song wastes no time in grabbing your attention and refusing to let go. Theia’s powerful vocals and poignant lyrics work together to create a message of queer and female empowerment that is both urgent and deeply personal.

The lyrics of the song are particularly striking, as Theia speaks directly to those who have been made to feel that their love is wrong or tainted by oppressive belief systems. It is a message that is unfortunately all too relevant in today’s world, and one that deserves to be heard loud and clear. Theia’s fierce commitment to this message is palpable in every note she sings, and it is impossible not to feel moved by the strength and conviction in her voice.

The accompanying music video, directed by Nas Nixx, is a perfect complement to the song, as it features a diverse cast of individuals who are all united in their defiance of societal norms and expectations. The video captures the intensity and urgency of the song’s message, while also providing a powerful visual representation of the struggles faced by those who are marginalised and oppressed.

Mango In Euphoria – Hollywood

Mango In Euphoria’s latest release, “Hollywood,” is a captivating and powerful electronic track that takes listeners on a journey through the dark side of the city of angels. Inspired by the contrast between the glamorous and the gritty aspects of Los Angeles, Mango In Euphoria has created a track that combines a futuristic electronic sound with a goth vibe.

The track opens with a pulsing electronic bass, creating a sense of foreboding and unease. Mango In Euphoria’s vocals come in, strong and clear, delivering lyrics that paint a picture of the darker side of Hollywood. The lines throughout suggest the struggle that many artists face when trying to make it in Hollywood, where the allure of fame and fortune can often come at a high price. The lyrics are delivered with a sense of urgency and desperation, reflecting the song’s theme of the corrupting influence of Hollywood. Mango In Euphoria’s vocals is complemented by a haunting electronic melody, which adds to the eerie atmosphere of the song.

One of the most impressive aspects of “Hollywood” is Mango In Euphoria’s ability to create a sound that is both futuristic and goth. The track has a strong electronic bassline that is reminiscent of Daft Punk’s Tron Legacy soundtrack, which Mango In Euphoria cites as a major influence on the song. The “arcade game feeling” that Mango In Euphoria wanted to capture is evident in the track’s production, which has a polished and futuristic sound.

Datsunn – End of the Day

Datsunn’s new single “End of the Day” is a beautiful and introspective piece of music that showcases the artist’s talent for weaving together deep lyrics with hypnotic beats. Inspired by a sample from The Kount, Datsunn kept the production simple and stripped back, allowing the chords to shine through.

The track’s message is also a poignant one, with Datsunn exploring themes of materialism and the true meaning of happiness. His lyrics are heartfelt and honest, with lines like “All these things we need, like money, fame and greed. Do they mean anything? At the end of the day.” striking a chord with listeners who may be struggling to find fulfilment in their own lives.

“End of the Day” is a powerful and thought-provoking song that showcases Datsunn’s skills as both a musician and a lyricist.

Paris Paloma – notre dame

Surrey-based singer-songwriter Paris Paloma has once again graced our ears with her new single “notre dame”. The song is an ode to the experience of being on the fringes of religion and faith, inspired by a reverent afternoon spent in a great church. Paris’ poetic lyricism and mystical, ritual sense of the high church come together in perfect harmony to create a track that’s not only rich with depth and meaning but also extremely catchy.

The track opens with an alternative production: ethereal sounds that take influences from dark pop, folk, and indie genres, and creates an almost otherworldly atmosphere. The instrumentals are minimalistic, with Paloma’s acoustic guitar leading the way, and the choral vocals in the background give the song an added layer of depth.

Paris’ vocals are nothing short of mesmerising and hypnotising, too. Furthermore, her gentle voice is both haunting and soothing, creating an almost hypnotic effect. The mystic lyricism of the song adds to the overall experience and gives the impression of being transported to a different time and place.

Xana – Bad Bandit

Xana’s command of pop music is undeniable, and “Bad Bandit” is a showcase of her versatility as an artist, from the moment the song starts, you’re immediately drawn in by the roaring rhythms and pounding bassline. The instrumental perfectly sets the tone for the rebellious anthem that is about to unfold.

Xana’s love for country music is evident in “Bad Bandit,” and it’s a refreshing change of pace from her previous releases. But what’s even more impressive is how she seamlessly blends different genres together. Her experimentalism thrives, and you can hear her dipping her toes into whatever she’s connecting with at that moment.

Teenage Dads – Midnight Driving

https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1397762134

Teenage Dads have just dropped their latest single, “Midnight Driving,” and it’s a fantastic glimpse into their forthcoming EP of the same name. The band has always had a knack for delivering catchy, lo-fi indie pop tunes, and “Midnight Driving” is no exception. With extraterrestrial-esque synths layered over a slower, bass-heavy melody, the song manages to create a dreamy and almost otherworldly atmosphere that is perfectly complemented by the melancholic lyrics.

The song feels nostalgic of late summer nights driving through the suburbs, as the band themselves explain. They wrote the song when coming to an understanding that a relationship was on its way out. “Depending on which seat you’re in, you may not want it to end, or maybe you do. Are you in the passenger seat, begging to go for another drive? Or are you the driver, ready to speed off into the night?”

The song sets the scene for the remaining unreleased tracks on the forthcoming EP, and it’s clear that the band has taken a new direction with their sound. This new side of Teenage Dads is exciting, and we can’t wait to hear what else they have in store for us.

LOSER – The More I Know

Australian alt-rock band LOSER has released their latest single “The More I Know,” marking the fourth single from their EP. The single is a testament to the band’s skill in balancing power with refinement and madness with melody. The track opens with a driving beat that sets the tone for the entire song, while the guitars come in with a catchy riff that draws the listener in.

The vocals are delivered with a raw, emotional edge that captures the vulnerability of the band’s experience in re-establishing their creative drive after a period of lost passion. The lyrics are the most meaningful on the EP and speak to the struggle of getting out of a creative rut and wanting to succeed more than ever.

The Gulps – Mirror Mirror

The Gulps’ latest single “Mirror Mirror” is a dynamic and captivating track that blends indie-rock and disco influences with a carefree, beatnik-inspired lyrical approach. The accompanying video is a perfect visual representation of the song’s themes, exploring the diverse shards of human character through a series of mirror-like reflections.

The song itself is mixed with contorted cuts and shapeshifting sound that swings between the slick indie stylings that showcase the band subsequently creating a sound that is truly their own, with the laissez-faire lyrics inviting listeners to join in the hedonistic adventure of just another day.
