BENEE’s ‘Green Honda’ is the Perfect Soundtrack for Overcoming Your Fears

New Zealand’s alternative pop star BENEE is back and better than ever with the release of her brand new single, “Green Honda.” This energetic and empowering track marks the first release from BENEE’s upcoming project, set to drop later this year.

The music video for “Green Honda,” directed by Eliot Charof and AA, takes place in a bubblegum electro junkyard world. BENEE and her friends dance and play among the cars and dogs, dressed in wild fashion and full of attitude. The video perfectly captures the playful energy of the song, which is the “I’m f***ing over you” anthem that you never knew you needed.

According to BENEE, “Green Honda” was written in collaboration with Elvira and Luka. “It was such a refreshing experience to be in the studio writing with two other young women,” BENEE says. “There is so much that you just don’t need to explain when you’re working with your true peers. It’s intuitive. They just get it, and that’s amazing.”

“I wanted the energy of the song to capture the idea I had of writing a song about knowing where you’re at and what you need to say and not being afraid.

The writing process for “Green Honda” was a back-and-forth effort between BENEE, Elvira, and Luka, as BENEE headed straight to Europe for a tour after their initial writing session. The end result is a track that perfectly captures the idea of knowing what you want and not being afraid to say it.

BENEE’s powerful vocals and production elevate the song to a new level, while the instrumentals bring an electrifying energy to the track. The creative process for “Green Honda” was a true collaboration, as BENEE and her writing partners worked together to get the energy of the song just right. With her unique blend of dreamy alt-pop and offbeat, whimsical lyrics, BENEE has quickly become a standout in the music world. Her deeply heartfelt reflections on life in suburban Auckland are perfectly paired with her technicolour production, which features beats and hooks that are as unpredictable as they are captivating.

“Green Honda” is a powerful, empowering anthem, and its addictive hooks, and unforgettable chorus, make this a joy to listen to.
