Jenny Bakke is an alternative-pop artist and whilst the Liverpool-based Norwegian artist wrote this song back in 2020 – during the the COVID-19 pandemic – she took the time to look for a plan B, per se, in which she thought of the possibilities of a better life off Earth.
Coinciding with her previous moniker Helven, Jenny continues to expand on her synth-laden lo-fi through her namesake, with ‘Can We Move To Mars’ showcases some of her greatest strengths throughout.
“I originally wrote and produced this song in March 2020 when I was dreaming of a better future, a plan B of sorts,” Jenny explains about the inspiration for her newest single. “I reproduced it and added it to the mixtape, simply because it fits perfectly with the feeling of the world I was creating and my view on the world today.”
Coming off the release of her Mixtape ‘Morild’, due out for release in May, Jenny further explains that she used her Mixtape as a hole to take a leap and explore new grounds. “It takes courage to explore,” Jenny says. “To be lost and found, be ‘pop’ one moment and experimental next. Letting songs be whatever they want to be,” says Bakke.
It would be an understatement to say that working on that mixtape gave her a great sense of freedom.
