CIVIC explore protecting love in a violent world in their newest single, “Blood Rushes”

Happy New Year! It’s 2023 and already an assortment of new music is on the menu – In fact, I have already started compiling the latest “Delicious New Music” post coming out before the end of the week (don’t hold me to that) – and what a way to kick off 2023 with the latest single from punk band, CIVIC.

The Australian punk rock scene has gotten off in one of the best ways possible through this gritty, DIY punk rock song, which is everything that makes the experience enjoyable – I’m not just talking about the visual aspect – through the use of the band’s immediate build-up to head-bopping drum beats, heavy guitars, and vocals, too of course.

“My verses [in Blood Rushes] are about new love and trying to protect that in a violent world, like trying to keep a candle alight in a cyclone.” guitarist of the band, Lewis says about the story of the song, “It’s about wanting to have your own world away from everything, wanting that feeling to last a little bit longer before it all comes crashing down.”
