Elle Winter explores the superpower of asking for ‘Help’ in her single

Back in October, Los Angeles-based artist Elle Winter released – in my opinion – one of her best, rawest anthems to date – a single that further showcased some of the best aspects of how she uses music as her creative outlet.

“It feels so amazing to have this song out in the world,” Elle says on the release of her single ‘Help’. “It is a cathartic experience releasing a song that is truly about my life and means so much to me. Having the song out in the world and performing it live serves to remind me to take care of myself and not forget to prioritize my happiness.”

‘Help’ is the type of song that Elle was able to learn more about herself – professionally and personally – than ever before: “I learned that there is so much strength in asking for support and reaching out to others for help,” Elle says. “Being vulnerable at times is really powerful and shows strength, not weakness.”

Elle’s ‘Help’ was written after she spent a lot of time reflecting on her life during the COVID-19 pandemic. Being based in Los Angeles, the city went through some of the most hard-hitting impacts of the pandemic, due to its population.

“Growing up in the entertainment industry, I had always put pressure on myself to be “perfect”. — Elle Winter

“I realized this self-imposed pressure was hindering my life,” Elle continues. “When I moved to LA and started a new music project, I wanted to begin this chapter of my life accepting who I was and putting myself first.”

From that experience, Elle was able to find strength in doing so and realised asking for help is a superpower and not a weakness, and there is no need to be “perfect” because that does not exist!

The new single does represent the original message Elle wanted to express and the final product takes it even further with its live instruments, rich harmonies and powerful, explosive production.

“The song really captures the themes and concepts I wanted to present both lyrically and sonically. I am very proud of the final product.” — Elle Winter

“The creative process was a bit different in writing “Help” because it was the first time, I was writing a song that was about my own internal feelings and struggles not influenced by other people’s actions or one of my relationships,” Elle says about the creative process. “I came to the studio the day we wrote “Help” wanting to truly express how I was thinking and feeling. It was a challenge but felt so rewarding to create something so personal.”

With this song, Elle wants listeners to know they are not alone in their struggles, and they are allowed to ask for help and put themselves first and prioritize their well-being.

“We are all deserving of the freedom to be ourselves,” Elle says.
