On today’s menu, you’re going to find some delicious new music from Venessa Michaels, DZ Deathrays, Alienblaze, Krystal Roxx, Fe Salomon, Jack Panther, LUMER, Cassa Jackson, Priestess, and Hanne Mjoen.
Dig in and enjoy!
Krystal Roxx is a London-based music producer and DJ, and her newest single “Authenticate” serves as a fresh new style ahead of her massively planned 2023. Down to its core, Authenticate is a stylish house anthem that oozes with influences from an assortment of 90s Dance and Rave nuances.
“Distant” is one of the 5 songs off Hanne’s debut EP – out now – that continues to emphasis her stronghold as a solid pop artist. The song itself is used as a platform to further tell her story.
‘“Distant” is describing the desperation you feel when people can’t see the way you’re trying to tell them that something is wrong,’ Hanne says about the song.
Venessa Michaels is an LA-based electronic producer that is heading towards the release of her debut album. Whilst Venessa has been making music for years – in fact, I remember when she used to go by VenessaMichaels (without the space) – it is this album that will see the Los Angeles native display a holistic picture of her own artistry. Bringing together a soothing mix of assorted dance and pop genres, her new album will showcase a versatile skill set; to emphasise the aforementioned, “Needed U” is a track that offers an infectious, party-starting atmosphere, further highlighted by her strong vocals.

Cassa’s newest single is a great example of how she is able to throw her voice around and showcase her relatable, sassy attitude through lyrics. Cassa’s ‘Right Girl, Wrong Guy’ offers a glimpse into Cassa’s personal feelings of relationships.
“It really frustrates me when people try to leave relationships and put it down to ‘right person, wrong time,” Cassie says. This song is saying, ‘No, I’m not accepting that! Let’s be honest about why we’re over.’ The problem is rarely about being too young, it is usually about making no effort and not caring enough to stay. Singing this song to thousands of people in an arena is the best therapy to get over a bad romance!”
The only thing I could think of whilst watching this music video for Jack Panther’s newest single was that scene from Napoleon Dynamite where he does that dance routine. I guess it is kind of ironic the song’s namesake is from a movie as well.
Jack has a pretty solid voice, and it is one I could listen to over and over again.
Coming off the release of Priestess’ new record – out today – “Hooks” is a stand-out of the record that showcases the artist’s strong, and proficient, repertoire as a singer/songwriter and overall storyteller.
Speaking on the release of her debut EP, Priestess revealed that it comes from various spaces and angles emotionally. “The name of the title track became an embodiment of the Landscapes of feeling that it was written within,” she says. “Stitching together a mix of moments in time, whilst I was going through different experiences. It is also representative of how my work has an intrinsic connection to nature and the mirroring of ourselves within its cycles of death and rebirth.”

How good are DZ Deathrays? Well, to say the post-punk trio are on top of their game with ‘Paranoid’ would be an understatement. In fact, the Brisbane-based band’s newest single is essentially a driving track, full of rhythms, buzzing feedback and a chorus of fiery proportions.
Speaking on the influence of the song, the DZ Deathrays’ lead vocalist and guitarist Shane revealed that at the time of conceiving the song, he was thinking about the way he kept questioning himself in different aspects of life: “Loosely it’s about that, wanting to go in a certain direction with something but having this lingering thing stopping you or setting up roadblocks here and there,” Shane adds.
You’re not going to be disappointed with what you hear from LUMER, as you’re getting a DIY, gritty British band at its best. “English Dream” is the type of song that showcases the band at their strongest aspect: Alex’s strong vocals, Ben & Ben’s baking guitars and William’s consistent array of drum beats.
“English Dream tries to epitomise my cynical view of my country,” Alex reveals about their song. “There is this constant battle, it seems, to find any form of joy in the political and social climate that we are currently surrounded by. I feel that we have to crawl on our knees for our leaders whilst very little is being done in protest from our people.”
Fe Salomon’s “Interstate 10” is a huge song that showcases a fast, audible landscape of exploration through Fe’s own vocals and the underlying instrumentals. I cannot wait to see the music video for this.
“‘Interstate 10’ connects far-flung events that occurred during my travels around the US, including having to escape from a violent manager who gambled all the money away in Vegas,” Fe reveals about her newest song. “The song was written with my old friend, producer Ru Cook, and it was originally envisioned as a country song.”
AlienBlaze is a singer/songwriter and guitarist who mixes genre-fluid anthems resulting in a hybrid assortment of dark alternative pop, grunge and electronic elements. AlienBlaze’s latest single “Romantically Dead” is a song that oozes gothic vibes. “I was thinking of it in filmic terms, if it was a soundtrack of a movie,” AlienBlaze says about the release of the song.
