Kimbra – replay!

Today’s delicious song of the day comes from Kimbra. Following on from the release of ‘save me’, Kimbra’s newest single gives fans a further taste of what is to come off her brand new album, due out for release in January.

Kimbra hardly needs a lengthy introduction – so I’ll try to keep this short – as she has been making music for quite a while, however, this new single continues to show how effortlessly Kimbra is able to challenge herself and the expectation of listeners.

Kimbra’s ‘replay!’ is a glitchy, electronic-influenced song that chronicles a woman’s struggle with ruminating thoughts that demand our attention. “This song is about the experience of being on loop,” Kimbra reveals about her new single. “There’s this movie going around in my head replaying both the beautiful and the terrifying times during a relationship. But there’s also an inability to let go. Hanging onto the pain made me feel like this person was still in my life. There was an addictive quality to the cycle, even though I knew it was time to face and release it.”

You’d be remiss to overlook the fact that Kimbra uses this song to further explore the depiction of two sides of her own internal experience: one is chaotic but the other is very in control, introspective and calm.
