Paradoks – New Beginning

Swiss-Belgian producer Paradoks continues his musical journey through the release of “New Beginning”, which also happens to open the next chapter in his career. Bringing together more of what has made the producer a must-listen; the prominant vocals, stripped-back, authentic instrumentals and assortment of over-arching pads. Furthermore, the intertwining synths and basslines work well together to form Paradoks’ composition and sonic aesthetics.

“New Beginning pictures the story of someone’s initial struggle of belonging,” Paradoks says about the release of his newest single. “It’s a song that reflects a part of my life and some difficult moments I have been going through, both in the music industry and my personal life.”

Holliday Howe – Thelma & Louise Pt. II

Sydney-based hyper pop producer Holliday Howe has released the next single from her upcoming debut mixtape. The song is called “Thelma & Louise Pt. II” and it finds Holliday exploring a friendship ruptured by her own actions.

The atmosphere in this song is huge – it’s loud and aesthetically/sonically pleasing – in that it mixes an array of underlying productive instruments, electronic/synth nuances, and Holliday’s solid vocals. “Thelma & Louise Pt. II was the final song written for the mixtape,” Holliday says. “A lot of the songs I already had on it were focused on people who had been good friends or bad friends, and I hadn’t tackled writing about how I might’ve been a bad friend too.”

Matilda Pearl – GATEKEEPING DUMBSHIT

Following the release of ETM favourite ‘NICE TO KNOW YA’ earlier this year, talent Melbourne-based artist Matilda Pearl continues to offer a glimpse into her sonically driven project with her enticing new anthem, ‘GATEKEEPING DUMBSHIT’.

Matilda’s newest single showcases a world of basslines, distorted guitar riffs, [and] an overlay of her own harmonic vocals. Storywise, ‘GATEKEEPING DUMBSHIT’ is about people who are unnecessarily competitive in life. “The song was written in around 3 hours,” Matilda reveals about the creative process of her new song. “We were all just going back and forth on annoying things people gatekeep, and it pretty much came together on its own. We deconstructed it a bit. We didn’t want the song format to be typical, so it’s kind of hard to figure out what the verse, pre-chorus and chorus [are]. It was really fun challenging that structure and I think it gives it the chaotic vibe we were trying to emulate.”

Eluera – Sixth Sense

Central Coast pop artist Eluera has returned with a bright new single that gives you an irresistible slice of infectious disco-pop, along with her delicate vocals and world soundscape. Although, the song’s story is solid too, as it is a track about certain personalities: “[It] is about dealing with a certain type of person over and over, to the point that you can predict their next move,” Eleura says about her new single’s story. “Wrapped in playful house-pop production, it tells of finding the power to finally give them back a bit of the treatment they are giving you.”

Ella Tiritiello – Not Your Girl

It’s hard to believe that Ella is only 16 years old and has so much talent for someone relatively new to the music scene. Ella’s newest single “Not Your Girl” is actually her third release since she first launched her music project earlier this year.

Hailing from Sweden, you wouldn’t be surprised that think she is already being compared to various other Swedish heavyweights. However, this new song shows how effortlessly Ella can showcase her strong vocal talents and authentic aesthetic presence.

Immi Dash – You Ain’t Good

“You Ain’t Good” is the type of song that continues to showcase Immi’s potential through her dreamy vocals and soul aesthetics through this emotional self-written song.

“‘You Ain’t Good’ represents a moment of realisation in my life,” Immi reveals about her newest single. “I found that I was pouring all my time and effort into a relationship with a guy who didn’t truly care about me. Even after he did me wrong, I kept making excuses for him. It’s about the moment that you admit to yourself that a person is wrong for you, whether that’s romantically or not, and realise the version of someone you’ve built up in your mind is not what you see in front of
you.”

Levina – Battleground

Levina is an independent artist originally from Germany – now based in London – who continues to showcase her great work with enthralling emotion. Bringing together the worlds of alternative pop and bits of soul, her newest single “Battleground” is an emotional and personal journey of insight into Levina’s own mental health.

“I am so grateful to be able to express my emotions through music and I want to raise awareness that struggles with mental health are not always visible, “Levina expresses. “We need to make an effort to be kind to each other because we never know what someone might be going through. I also want people to know that there’s always someone to talk to and someone who will listen, including services like Samaritans and Help Musicians, who have 24/7 helplines. And my DM’s are always open.”

Jack River – Nothing Has Changed

https://api.soundcloud.com/tracks/1370899555

It has been a while since I have come across a Jack River song – in fact, the last time she was on Eat This Music was back in January 2020; how time has flown – recently she dropped a new song called “Nothing Has Changed”, a song that sees Jack give fans more of what she is known for: packing her songs full of sunny, aesthetically pleasing atmospheres and soothing lyrics.

“I wrote ‘Nothing Has Changed’ after playing my first show back after the pandemic at Bass in the Grass, in Australia,” Jack River says about the release of her new single. “I was scared that everything might have changed, but when I returned, everything was in its place, we were all there – screaming and yelling and singing together, just like we used to, and just like we will for years to come.”

Cadnece – Headphones

This song comes off the release of Cadence’s brand new EP – which came out this week – which sees the Israel-based rock duo explore the mundane life of a family man: “Headphones” is about the dissonance between the mundane daily life of a family man, and the imaginary world that exists in his mind as soon as he puts the headphones on and the guitars start riffing inside his head,” the duo say.

Down to its core, this is an aging old rock anthem that will leave you with a sense of satisfaction.

Hannah May – Golden

Hannah May is an Australian indie-folk artist and her newest single, “Golden”, is a strong example of her sonic personality that incorporates a mixed genre of indie folk, pop and alternative aesthetics whilst still showing her lyrical/songwriting growth.

“Golden is a song for the self-doubters and big dreamers,” Hannah says on the release of her new single. “The sensitive and soft hearted. The ones who are always at war with their own mind. I stand with you. This one is for us.”
