Isabel Wood explores the enjoyment of little moments in life in her new single ‘Run & Hide’

Isabel Wood is a singer-songwriter out of Australia who has a passion for pop music. She has loved music from a really young age but that developed into something more after writing her first song at 15 years old. “There’s just something really therapeutic about turning your thoughts and feelings into music and having people connect and relate to it,” Isabel says at the top of our chat about her new song.

“I always discover something new about my songs when they’re officially released,” She continues. “Something about knowing other people are hearing it for the first time adds a new dimension and brings a different perspective to a song that I thought I knew inside out.”

Isabel Wood’s newest song is titled ‘Run & Hide’ and it is the type of song where Isabel learned to trust her instincts. In fact, this is the type of song that went through a few production versions early on in its process, and it just wasn’t quite sitting where she wanted it to be.

I spoke up a lot more than usual and we ended up with the track sitting exactly where I imagined it from the beginning. — Isabel Wood

‘Run & Hide’ is a song all about letting go of the bigger picture and allowing yourself to just live in the moment of whatever it is you’re doing in life.

“I feel like society expects us to be constantly productive in chasing our goals, and the weight of that expectation can so easily cause us to lose touch with the little moments that make life beautiful,” Isabel explains about the influence of the song’s story. “This song is my own personal reminder to not take myself too seriously and never let other people’s expectations take the enjoyment out of life.”

During the initial process for this song, Isabel was having a lot of inner thoughts about how fast everything in her life seemed to be moving at the time she wrote the song and wanted its aesthetics to come across in a dreamy and uplifting way – which she evidently nailed in the end.

Although, in saying that, Isabel is the type of artist that believes writing about what you know always comes across the best and she does assure listeners that she will be touching on those types of aforementioned topics again through her music – in some way or another – in the future.

Expanding on the creative process, Isabel reveals that it was a very different process this time around compared to her previous song released in 2021. “I usually have the whole song finished and then take my demo to a producer and then they help bring it to life,” Isabel says. “But this time ‘Run & Hide’ was written from scratch with Dom in the session and then we spent another day producing it together.”

Furthermore, this is the type of song Isabel hopes reminds people to take pride and enjoy the minor things in life. Isabel emphasises, “I hope this makes people feel good and reminds them to take a moment to appreciate the small things in life that we often take for granted.”

2022 looks to be a big year for the Sunshine Coast native, as she continues to grow her team and plans to take over the music scene through “world domination of course [laughs].”
