Robin Cisek explores different emotional aspects of herself in her new video for ‘Memories’

Robin Cisek is a Metis artist from the Edmonton area of Canada, and she recently released a sci-fi music video for her song “Memories”. “I would love it if you would check it out,” Robin enthusiastically says. “We created this project with a very small crew of 2 Metis creatives including me and my director, editor, and special effects guy that goes by the name “Strenneth”.”

Robin’s music video for her song takes inspiration from sci-fi media and futuristic techwear styles to illustrate the individualized and very personal struggle that people have with their mental health.

While the single originally came out last year, the visual representation of what Robin wanted to say took a bit of extra time to accomplish. In saying that though, the complexity of this music video is highlighted in how Robin Cisek takes on the role of 3 characters that represent different emotional aspects of herself with an aim to find a purpose or final destination for upsetting memories. This project was created with a small crew of 2 Metis creatives from the Edmonton area, as briefly touched on above. In fact, for this song, Robin Cisek also did the wardrobe, hair, makeup, and visual character design.

Strenneth (Aka Adriel Rosenfeldt) did the directing, editing and special effects. They worked as a team to develop the concepts. The song featured in the video called “Memories” is all about overcoming trauma and talking more openly about mental health. So far, Robin has had some amazing feedback on the video and the message behind it.

In this music video, a science-fiction world exists in Robin’s mind, where a version of Robin accesses memories and controls the real-world version of herself.

“The emotional core of the story will revolve around the conflict between memory and identity,” Director, Adriel goes on to say. “By giving Robin’s character the ability to delete memories she doesn’t like, it allows us to see how it can shape her views about the world.”

This song comes off the release of Robin’s album “Delicate Minds”, an album inspired by how minds work. “My aim for this project was to create an album that was cohesive both in subject matter and sound,” Robin says about her forthcoming album. “Mental health is complicated; I wanted to create this music to show people with mental illness that they are not alone. My song “Memories” is a song about healing.””
