Phil Jamieson is set to grace stages across Australia in January 2024 with his ‘Nobody Else Tour.’ Fresh from the success of his latest solo full-length album, ‘Somebody Else,’ Phil is prepared to captivate audiences with a stripped-back acoustic performance that promises to be a mesmerizing musical experience.
‘Somebody Else’ marked a significant departure for Phil, bridging the gap between his iconic work as the frontman for Australian alternative legends Grinspoon and a new solo venture steeped in rock. Phil collaborated with talented artists like Holy Holy’s Oscar Dawson, Davey Lane, Jordan Power, and Ben Rosen to bring his solo vision to life. The result is a musical journey that transcends boundaries and resonates deeply.
Phil’s live presence has been remarkable in recent times. In 2023, he embarked on solo appearances and joined the sold-out White Album concert tour alongside Australian stalwarts Chris Cheney from The Living End, Tim Rogers from You Am I, and Josh Pyke. Closing the year with a national Grinspoon tour supported by Private Function, Phil now turns his attention to a more intimate setting for the ‘Nobody Else Tour.’ This tour promises to offer a night of original music, providing audiences with a raw, fun, and emotionally engaging experience.
The ‘Nobody Else Tour’ will feature reimagined arrangements specifically designed by Phil for the intimate venues on the tour. Audiences can expect a blend of offerings from ‘Somebody Else,’ never-before-heard solo material, and moments from Phil’s illustrious career. With these stripped-back renditions, Phil aims to offer fans a rare and unforgettable experience.
“The setlist will have rearranged songs for this particular format,” Phil says about the tour. “After the exploration that Grinspoon have done on Easy and New Detention, I may play some deep cuts of those records. I’m also looking forward to road-testing some new material that I have been working on for my sophomore solo joint.”
The tour will span multiple venues across Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania. It includes old favorites and uncharted territory for Phil. The lineup also features a special performance at the Milton Theatre in southern New South Wales, a venue that is even mentioned in the title track of ‘Somebody Else.’ “There are venues here I have never played, there are venues here that I love,” Phil continues. “It’ll be summer in Australia, and I am playing brand new music as well as stuff from 25 years ago. I love being solo. It’s a challenging space but also super rewarding.”
