Heavy metal legends Iron Maiden are amongst the few to be honoured with a suite of stamps – which no doubt, avid stamp collectors will want as part of their collection. The Royal Mail has unveiled a collection of stamps as a tribute to the legendary British rock band, and their mascot, Eddie the ‘Ead.
Artists – and people in general – have been honoured on stamps in the past: such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen and Pink Floyd, however, this represents a relatively new opportunity for Iron Maiden in this mainstream field. Whilst the overall operations of mail has declined declines in recent years, stamp series represent an imaginative way for national postal services to generate revenue.
The stamps are now available in a variety of packages, ranging from envelopes, postcards and stamp sheets to a limited edition gold stamp and a “Limited Edition Platinum Eddie Stamps”.
The stamps are available to order from today at the Royal Mail website.
