Jade Bird’s ‘Nobody’ is the depiction of a relationship she can’t accept is falling apart

Jade Bird continues her return with the release of “Nobody,” the latest single from her upcoming third album, out July 18th. “Nobody” is a raw, emotional track that pairs Jade’s lyrical expertise with a booming chorus.

The song captures the painful crossroads of a collapsing relationship, where emotional denial competes with the truth. “Knowing your relationship is in tatters but being unable to admit defeat… because you feel that there’s no one who is better than that person despite it being so bad,” Jade says about her new song. Her lyrics paint a further picture of a helpless moment – calling her mother to confess it’s over, yet still clinging to a connection. It’s a devastating emotional landscape, but one Jade explores with clear-eyed vulnerability.

“Nobody” follows a three other singles: the title track “Who Wants,” “Dreams,” and “Avalanche.” Together, the songs set the stage for an upcoming album Jade describes as a cathartic reckoning with her past; it’s a record that spans a spectrum of emotional terrain – confronting familial dysfunction, heartbreak, self-reflection, and the healing process that follows.

“I wrote this album while trying to make sense of the broken relationships in my family – my parents, both sets of grandparents – and the way they echoed into my own life when my engagement ended,” Jade shares about the upcoming album. “It’s as much a question as an answer, wondering if I could break the cycle while finding my own path to forgiveness—not just from my dad, but for myself.”

Jade Bird’s “With Who Wants To Talk About Love?” doesn’t just dissect her personal history – she transforms it into artful, unflinching storytelling – she’s created a musical space that feels both intimate and universally resonant.
