Swedish avant-pop artist REIN‘s “How’s It Gonna Be?” showcases her daring musical style, drawing from a kaleidoscope of influences, including hyper-pop, IDM, post-punk, and new wave. With this song, REIN has crafted a genre-defying clash of soundscapes and introspective musings in the form of a story about hot and cold relationships.
“It’s about the experience of being together with a person that is hot and cold, and the conversations you have with yourself,” REIN says about the story of the song. “You know that the relationship is going to end someday but you are still hopeful. I would also say ‘How’s It Gonna Be?’ is the twin of my older song ‘Bruises’, people like it when I sing soft and from the heart. I have produced the beat and the synth strings which gives it some interesting contrasts. I was thinking it would be a mix of future grime and electro.”

This latest release comes off the release of her record, ‘GOD IS A WOMAN’, inspired by Lennart Nilsson’s captivating photographs from ‘A Child Is Born,’ the album immerses listeners in dreamy, majestic otherworldly soundscapes.
Delving into themes of womanhood and power, REIN shares her fascination with the ability of women to create life and questions the historical oppression that women have endured. “I have always been fascinated by how powerful women are, that we can create life inside of our bodies,” REIN says. “I am also fascinated by history and religion. Like why have we as women been so oppressed for such a long time and still is to this day, I still can’t understand why. We should be the leaders of this world”.
