RHYME SO explore the ‘influencers and fashion industry’ of our generation in their new single “Fashion Blogger”

RHYME SO is the future-pop duo of RHYME & Shinichi Osawa (SO), and recently RHYME SO released their brand new single “Fashion Blogger“. Since the release of their previous single, “Just Used Music Again”, the duo have been making new art using Music, again. Speaking on the influence of the single, RHYME SO explained to Eat This Music that “Fashion Blogger” is about the ‘influencers and fashion industry’ of our generation. The big old scroll hole”, the duo explained to Eat This Music in a recent chat.

Speaking on the influence of “Fashion Blogger”, RHYME explained that the modern-day Internet Girl (Realties shadow side modern-day devil consumerist advocate) is in some way a ‘Fashion blogger’, someone who is a person who assists in selling and promoting fashionable looks and products from their internet blog/Instagram.

When Social networking started, RHYME was in High school and she felt pressured into becoming an “Internet Girl” and after a while realised how ironic it all was. How misconceiving and filtered down the Internet started becoming and could be easily twisted far from reality. So the focus of the single changed to reflect that.

On the Internet, RHYME sees the ‘reliable’ side of facts and truth but there also seems to have a numbers-based / sceptical presentation. This is also cool because RHYME SO should be more critical of what social media we, as people, take in and curate with, in our own truth within it all.

So Fashion Blogger extends from a multitude of experiences in RHYME’s own life. Neither on any side but in search of the Truth. So “Fashion Blogger” is about questioning the information fed into our mental mouths and labels of ‘self’, LIKE Really.

Speaking on the creative process of the single, RHYME revealed that basically the song wasn’t made by them, they just did the work. And it was like a dream.

“Ice skating is so fun and sassy and dramatic. Like Music. Figure Ice Skating is the hardest most beautiful sport in this complex. It deserves to be seen more as skaters spend their whole lives training, It never ends. The homage to the sport is pure and within our motto.” — RHYME SO

Expanding on the aforementioned, RHYME expresses that “no other music artist can skate as well as” she does, and she wants to use her skill and pursue her passion in her own way, in RHYME SO’s own way. To stand out from the other music artists, It’s gotta be upfront. So RHYME began skating in Australia in her school town rink club ‘Boondall Ice World’.

Intertwining ice into their music is very important as the texture and introspection that ice provides is a strong theme for RHYME SO. Visually “Fashion Blogger” is clean and structured, like the Instagram grid of a fashion blogger. The clothing is over the top but based on performance. To see all the Figure Skating outfits is like watching a catwalk during their IAFB Grand Prix and for that matter any Ice Skating competition.

RHYME SO’s colour for Fashion Blogger was always Rainbow from the start. As the song developed into the visual process and the Music video welcomed MILK, the image also tied into our resonating and support of the LGBTQ community and Asian community that they are a part of. Essentially the whole modern-day world is like a big colourful competition, humans post and supply and is judged. We are all seen.

RHYME SO are a special break. They bring together future pop, ice skating, and storytelling to showcase a different sound of galactic/metal pop mixed with the essence of Japanese culture.
