Coming off the release of “Always Been You” back in October, New York-based artist Dylan Emmet has returned with a new single and collaboration titled “Memory“, a single essentially that essentially explores the inner dialogue of a breakup.
Featuring the vocals of Los Angeles artist Constance – whom Dylan met “at her show while” while he was in Los Angeles on a writing trip – and an assortment of deep, finely tuned digital production with a mix of soothing pop vocals and dialogue throughout this nearly four-minute track.
Speaking on the creation of Memory, Dylan explains how he and Constance “were sharing personal experiences” they have “each had during the end of a relationship.”
“There’s these moments when it feels like the other person has immediately forgotten who you are. Often times we create this story in our head that our ex is fine and has moved on.”
“The truth is, we really have no clue how the other person is feeling,” Dylan adds.
Memory looks to be the first of many collaborations between west and east coast artists, with more to come. As Dylan explains, the two worked through video chat to create Memory, and this is the first of many “collaborations we’re putting out in the world.”
